German 413, Kafka und seine Zeit, gathers on Tuesdays in Gailor 212 and on Thursdays in Stirling's Coffee House. On Thursday, Jan. 27, Prof. Davidheiser and the 11 students finished discussing Franz Kafka's Der Prozess and posed for a picture.
Dr. Davidheiser President of National German Honor Society

At the annual meeting of the American Association of Teachers of German, Dr. James C. Davidheiser officially took over the office of President of Delta Phi Alpha, the National German Honor Society, a group which includes German departments at hundreds of colleges and universities across the United States. Last year 900 new student members with high grades in German and overall were inducted into the national organization and pledged to persevere in their German studies and support the advancement of students' knowledge of German culture in the USA. Each year Sewanee inducts its own members in April at a festive ceremony in the German House. Dr. Zachau launches new textbook

Dr. Reinhard Zachau attended the launching of his newest book Cineplex at the 2013 ACTFL’s exhibitor fair in Orlando, America’s largest convention for foreign language educators. Cineplex is a groundbreaking second-year German textbook with feature-length German films on prominent cultural-historical topics. The event featured the three Cineplex authors Zachau, Jeanne Schueller of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Carrie Collenberg-Gonzalez of Longwood University and their editor Allen Cooper of Focus Publishing. Along with the 440-page student text Cineplex offers a student workbook, a teacher manual and a wealth of Internet-based activities.
